Both Jack and Gina Wheeler have been flying Hot Air Balloons since 1993 when SmokyMTNAir was born. Captain Jack Wheeler is your Pilot In Command. He is a commercial Hot Air Balloon pilot and airline transport pilot for a major airline in jets as well as a flight and ground instructor for airplanes (single and multi-engine and instrument) and balloons. Crew Chief Gina Wheeler has been the adventure coordinator, student pilot, marketing/advertising director and crew chief since the inception of SmokyMtnAir. The envelope is a beautiful and colorful checkerboard pattern balloon (see pictures), that is the largest banner balloon in the south. Our balloon is a 90 thousand cubic foot balloon that will hold up to 4 passengers in addition to Captain Jack.
